ReFi Spring Sustainability Hackathon 2023

Mark your calendars for the 7th, 8th, and 9th of September 2023 for a unique and exciting event: ReFi Cape Town's Spring Hackathon! This event offers a rare opportunity for young South African eco-developers and seasoned experts to collaborate and tackle some of the most pressing challenges of our local urban systems. Over the course of three days, teams will immerse themselves in exploring what do the terms "regeneration",
"decentralised", "tokenised", and "impacts" even mean?

Teams will also participate in a pre-workshop to upskill themselves in Web3 infrastructure and impact practices.

During the hackathon, teams will design and build a Web3 powered dApp that addresses a specific local challenge of their choice.

The Hackathon isn't just about problem-solving, it's also about inner transformation, healing and unlearning for a better world. We're curating a roster of expert guest speakers to share their invaluable insights, bringing a diverse range of perspectives to the table. We have assembled a world-class judging panel that are tasked with evaluating the innovative prototypes developed by participants.

In addition to the ecological knowledge, relationships, and experience to be gained, the event offers tangible incentives. Finalists can look forward to awards and bounties in recognition of their hard work and creativity. More than that, ReFi Cape Town is dedicated to nurturing these projects beyond the event. Winning solutions will receive support for future development, turning the prototypes into impactful, revenue generating solutions that make South Africa livable.

This event promises to be a fusion of ideas, compassion, and practical solutions, showcasing how collaboration can transform our urban systems.
